shopping the house

When I first showed you my breakfast room,

I was planning to buy a lamp to set on the side table.

Instead, I decided to shop my house.

and replace the lamp shade.

With that simple switch, the lamp has gone from cottage chic to french country, and I’m lovin’ the new look.

Until next time,

Sharon

After 17 years in an elementary classroom, Mrs. Hines retired from teaching to pursue her passions: decorating, writing and homemaking. While her formal education is in teaching, she discovered her talent for design at a young age and is a self-taught decorator. Mrs. Hines' DIY spirit has earned her appearances on the show Deals which airs on the Live Well Network. She continues to teach and inspire on her popular Lifestyle blog, Mrs. Hines' Class. Homemaking is Mrs. Hines' first love. So, when she isn't decorating or writing, you can find her at home watching television with Mr. Hines or trying to keep up with her teenaged daughter.

  2. Looks great! I ‘shop’ my house all the time! Especially the attic, where I keep putting the extra stuff. My daughters always say it looks like TJMaxx up there…..I have to watch them like a hawk so they don’t leave with stuff!! LOL

  3. Thank you, Cynthia.

  4. Well, I think I’d be tempted to leave with stuff too if it looks like TJMaxx!

  5. I love the lamp and if you lived closer I would have you help me figure out my new look for my living room!! I want a total remodel and am not sure what to do!!

  6. I’d love to help. Well maybe I can do an e-design consultation. Let me know if you are interested.

  7. looks great there and coordinates with the memo board too so it just fits. dontcha just love it when you shop from your very own stash and find something that works!?!? i love your kitchen too, by the way. i love french country so i’m partial to it but you have pulled it together nicely and it looks very warm and inviting.

  8. You’re right, it has been “long time no see” looks like you’ve been busy! I love the lamp…and that picture over your buffet and the buffet for that matter! I have a pretty large kitchen…and yet…no place for a buffet or anything like that! Thanks for stopping by again!

  9. oh…and I forgot to say that I shop my house ALL the time. I can’t get rid of anything anymore because I never know when I am truly ready to part with something! I’m going to need to be on hoarders, if something doesn’t change soon!
