Our first home had nothing on the walls, largely because the budget didn’t allow for it. I have since learned that art doesn’t have to break the bank. Today, I’ll share some tips I’ve learned along the way for creating DIY art at little or no cost.
~Get the Pottery Barn look by taking photographs of everyday images and include them in a gallery wall with framed family pictures.
~Take advantage of free online resources such as The Graphics Fairy and Wordle.net
~Frame your child’s drawings or art projects for instant art.
~Do you have a map that you’re not using anymore? Cut it up and display it as a collage.
~Repurpose a pallet and display above the mantel, create wall shelves or consider the endless possibilities.
~Create your own chalkboard for functional art.
~Shop online classifieds for bargains. This beautiful autumn setting was mine for just $3
~Use objects such as plates or baskets to fill in blank wall space.
~Salvage an unused frame or picture and repurpose it.
What’s on your walls?
Until next time,
Sharon
