DIY Christmas Ornaments and Decor

NYC, rockefeller center, Christmas tree, holidays, New York
After our whirlwind weekend in New York City, I planned to take it easy yesterday.  But, once I got up out of bed, the day just sort of took a turn all its own.

As soon as  I noticed the sun shining through the clouds of gray, I put on some flip-flops (it was in the 80’s), grabbed my garden clippers, and journeyed down to the nature preserve at the end of my street.

Never mind that as I trotted back home, braless and in my pj’s, I ran into a neighbor walking his dog. I scored!

Of course, once home, I couldn’t resist tucking the pine boughs and boxwood into their places.

There’s nothing like a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction to keep you motivated. So, I worked on the mantel decor until it looked “just right.”

With twenty minutes to spare until my scheduled Google + hangout, I hurriedly changed out of my pajamas, which smelled like a wet puppy after being outside, and took a quick bath.

I rushed to dry my hair and pick out something pretty to wear in the few minutes remaining.

Hair done.

Lipstick on.

I raced down the hallway to my “set” ( a card table in the living room) and met my Holiday Hangout co-hosts online. We worked through the logistics and made sure we were ready for “prime time”, all while I applied mascara.

Then, the countdown was on and we were LIVE.

I know you’re going to love the DIY ornaments that Heather and Tammy each shared. A little hint: don’t throw away those paint chips or Solo cups!

And I shared a quick little Christmas craft too.

I’ll let you see it all for yourself.

The holiday ideas, decor and crafts will continue throughout the week with these other inspiring bloggers.

Each hostesses’ button will take you to their Google + profile where you will be able to watch the hangout on air once it is live. Check the schedule to be sure you don’t miss a thing.

See you in class,

Mrs. Hines
