I love hospitality. Welcoming a familiar face, asking them to “come on in”, taking their coat, and inviting them to sit down is one of life’s simple pleasures.
My goal is to make each and every friend and family member feel special once they walk through the front door. And for me, it starts in the foyer. So, I’ve been looking for inspiration on Pinterest and in magazines, in hopes of creating a cozy, cottage foyer.
Some of the foyers that “had me at hello” were ones with warm, wood tones, and a casual air about them, like this one from House Beautiful.
I love those honey tones! They’re so warm and cozy. I was pleased as punch when I realized that the walls in my own foyer are a similar warm white, and I happened to already have a wood table sitting in the entry, although mine has a darker stain. I just needed some honey to create the warm, inviting look I was after.
So, I went searching for some honey, honey colored frames that is. I felt like Winnie the Pooh when I saw these golden, pine frames at Target. ”Mmmmm, honey!”
I couldn’t wait to get home and frame the images I found on The Graphics Fairy. These images are a great way to share a bit about me with friends, new and old, when they come over. I love landscapes and architecture. And sailboats capture my imagination, carrying me away to blue skies, warm breezes and sunshine; my idea of paradise.
Now the foyer has the warm, cozy glow I was wanting.
How are you keeping cozy this winter?
See you in class,
