blue ticking table runner

I opened the door to check for a delivery, and there it was. Knowing exactly what was inside the package, I removed the lovely seal from Sutton Place Designs, and opened the carefully wrapped tissue paper to reveal a beautiful, blue ticking table runner, custom-made just for me by Ann.

I had been imagining it on the dining room table long before it was ever ordered, knowing the blue stripes would be the perfect complement to the floral drapes. Mixing fabrics is a great way to bring color and texture into a room.

Ticking paired with damask blends the simplicity of the country with the elegance of the city. Let’s call it Rustic Elegance.

Stripes and florals go together like peas and carrots. If you’re ever in doubt about mixing patterns, you can’t go wrong with this pair.

And one of my favorite combinations is ticking and toile. It’s so classically french.

These are just a few examples. There are so many options when it comes to mixing patterns. I hope you will give it a try.
