house beautiful: the “it” factor

I am competitive in that I’m always trying to out do myself, especially when it comes to home decor. I don’t want a pretty home. I want a show stopping, head turning, love at first sight kind of home. So, lately I’ve been on a mission to add the “it” factor to my cozy cottage.

The first step in the process was creating this style board.   Putting this board together was very helpful in defining my personal style, which if I had to sum it up in one word, would be classic.  I’m just a traditional girl living in a modern world.

home decor, personal style

It’s comforting to know that I’m not alone.  Just the other day, my friend texted, “Why do all of these house shows offer only contemporary style?  There is never anything traditional.”  To which I replied, “I’ve been lamenting this same thing.”

Imagine my delight as I discovered the Shop by Trend feature on Lamps Plus, when what to my wondering eyes did appear?  Beautiful, traditional rooms.

The traditional room has come a long way, baby.

Today’s traditional room is quite the fashionista, resembling the model in my style board: classic, chic and elegant.   And so begins a new series that I’m going to call “House Beautiful.”  Over the next couple of months, I’ll tackle two rooms in my home  with the help of Lamps Plus.   First stop: the teen lounge.   I’ve picked out the perfect crowning jewels to take this room from functional to fabulous.  I’ll be back soon with a sneak peek!

See you in class,
