Mr. Hines is running a marathon today!

It’s one of those things that was on his bucket list, and he decided that this would be the year to do it.

He’s never run a marathon before.

He didn’t formally train.

But, he plans to finish.

I’ll tell you what, that’s what I call dressing up, showing up and not giving up.

Now let’s move on to this week’s Recommended Reading.

~If you’re feeling like your life is just too busy, then Nonnah’s  post on Taking a Day Off is a must read.  It’s like she read my mind and took the words right out of my mouth.

One of my favorite things she said is this, “being too busy is losing.”    And what she has to say after that is the most insightful and powerful statement in the whole post.   Really.

~I was struck by the truth of this quote while reading a post at Metropolitan Organizing the other day.

“To know when you have enough is to be rich.” Lao-Tzu

These words remind me of my Dad who always says he doesn’t want anything for Christmas or his birthday.  He feels he has everything he needs and wants for nothing.

I used to wonder how you could want nothing, but the older I get, the more I get it.

~Speaking of Metropolitan Organizing, I shared a post over there on Creating a Multi-Purpose Dining Room.  I’d love for you to go pay a visit and read it.   And then join in the discussion and answer the hot topic, The Dining Room: Love It or Lose It?

~Last, but certainly not least, you must read Kirby’s ( Kirb Appeal) post  called Concessions to Age.   Like Kirby, I have given up on ever having a thigh gap or long beautiful hair.

And as humorous as that list of things to give up on is, I really loved the things she has not given up on.   I can always count on Kirby for a laugh.

See you in class,

After 17 years in an elementary classroom, Mrs. Hines retired from teaching to pursue her passions: decorating, writing and homemaking. While her formal education is in teaching, she discovered her talent for design at a young age and is a self-taught decorator. Mrs. Hines' DIY spirit has earned her appearances on the show Deals which airs on the Live Well Network. She continues to teach and inspire on her popular Lifestyle blog, Mrs. Hines' Class. Homemaking is Mrs. Hines' first love. So, when she isn't decorating or writing, you can find her at home watching television with Mr. Hines or trying to keep up with her teenaged daughter.
