We love our cat, Blackie.
He might even be a little bit spoiled.
We get a kick out of all of his typical cat behaviors like being a scaredy cat, using up some of his nine lives and sometimes being indifferent to our presence. Except for Hannah…he sleeps in her room all day waiting for her to come home from school. She is definitely his favorite.
If he only knew how much Mr. Hines and me do to accommodate his comfortable lifestyle: meet his diet requirements, give him blankets, buy him toys, use scents to help with his anxiety and most of all exercise great patience as he learned to trust us over the years.
The one thing that has taken some getting used to on my part is the litter box, but after years of trying to come up with a solution, I’d finally found a place to keep the litter box. We installed a cat door, and we started using Fresh Step® for odor control. All was well, unless Mr. Hines did the household shopping.
When Mr. Hines does the shopping, he buys things that are on some known only to men list of things to buy when you go to the store….like biscuits, Rotel, green beans and off-brand cat litter. He’s all about cutting corners.
And then during the evening when we’re lounging in the living room, watching t.v. and just trying to have a nice time, wafts of cat poo drift through the house and frankly, that pretty much ruins any relaxation for me.
OR, since the litter box is in the garage, when it’s warm outside the heat seems to activate the odor of every litter box use that has ever transpired in the history of the litter box.
I think Mr. Hines had enough of the odor problem too because recently he asked,
“What was that cat litter that we really like?”
“Fresh Step,” I answered eagerly.
“Maybe we should go back to that.”
(As he tells me regarding counseling, ‘it has to be their idea’ when it comes to some realization on the patient’s part. So, now Fresh Step is his idea.)
So, the Hines house returned to Fresh Step®. Our only complaint before was that it was very powdery, however, we recently discovered the new Fresh Step® which has a lower dust formula.
I didn’t think that they could improve on the odor control, but Fresh Step® has also partnered with Febreze™, which is excellent news because I’m all about eliminating, not masking, odors. And, this NEW Fresh Step® with the power of Febreze™ offers 10 Day Continuous Odor guarantee. I’m so stinkin’ (maybe that’s a poor choice of words) excited! It’s the little things, y’all.
As excited as I am about eliminating odors, it occurred to me that Blackie probably is too, since cats are very particular about the cleanliness of their litter boxes. Anything for our handsome boy.
So, as I make the shopping lists for this week, I’ll be sure to add the New Fresh Step® with the power of Febreze™ and a note for Mr. Hines (in case he does the shopping) that he can Save 20% with Cartwheel from 2/28 – 3/5.
Actually, since the coupon is exclusive to Target, I think I’ll do the shopping this week. (Any excuse to go to Target.)
I wish we could make a date of it and shop together. Since we can’t, if you have a cat and end up getting the New Fresh Step® with the power of Febreze™ at Target, snap a picture and send it to me. It will be almost like we’re shopping together.
See you in class,
