I read a very thought-provoking post by my friend, Heather at Setting for Four. The premise being that if our eyes are open, we will see beauty all around us. And that beauty will cause us to appreciate what we already have rather than continually striving for better and new.
That resonates with me; especially since I am not one to make new year’s resolutions. I’m all for goals and improvement, but more on a continual basis throughout the year. Evaluating and reestablishing goals makes more sense to me.
Now for 2013, I will focus on “surrender”. Surrender to my passions, surrender to trust, surrender my time…as one of my long time friends posted on her Facebook wall, “It’s time to shine. No holding back.” I have to confess that for various reasons, I held back last year. Not gonna happen this year. Not. going. to happen.
Now, some of my ‘not holding back’ will be in home improvement projects. I said back in July of 2011, when I first started this blog that I was going to decorate and organize my laundry room.
It’s going to happen this year. Also, in the summer of 2011, I bought a coffee table to refinish and resale. Inspiration has struck and I’m ready. You can’t rush an artist 😉
I will also finish projects that I started in 2012, like my kitchen.
I’m excited! This is going to be a great year.
See you in class,
