“This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group® and All You®, and Real Simple® but all my opinions are my own. #PMedia #NewYearMeTime http://my-disclosur.es/OBsstV”
2015 is off to a slow start. I’ve spent most of it in lounge pants and sweat shirts, wrapped up under blankets just trying to stay warm. Not at all what I had envisioned when I picked my one word.
I thought starting new business ventures, and wearing a fit bit would be glamorous. I wasn’t at all prepared for the hard work; the unfolding and becoming of me isn’t without its growing pains.
The best way to live your life is by being you. You’ll find happiness and fulfillment will come more easily.” ~Mr. Hines
And, I’ve realized some things in the process, like that I’m weary from putting everyone else’s needs before my own and that sophistify means taking some time to enjoy some of my favorite things again.
At the beginning of every school year, teachers were asked to fill out a form sharing our favorite things. And every year I would write: Reese’s’ Cups, Dr. Pepper, Snickerdoodle scented candles, tulips, lazy days on the beach, reading magazines…
Throughout the school year, the gifts of chocolate reminded me to indulge once in a while, the surprise fountain Dr. Pepper to appreciate the little things , and the generous gift cards that it’s okay to splurge every now and then.
And, one of my favorite teacher gifts ever (besides the heartfelt notes and letters from parents and students) was a bag filled with my favorite candy, a bottle of my favorite soda…and a magazine. I couldn’t wait to sit down with that magazine.
It’s been a while since those days. So, I went to Walmart to buy myself a few magazines.
After reading them, I remembered why I love magazines so much. There’s something about flipping through the pages of a magazine that stops time and provides an escape into a world of fresh inspiration and new ideas.
And, As I discovered tips for eliminating paper clutter, learned ways to stay on track when working from home, and read about couples whose marriages have become love stories for the ages, I found the encouragement I needed to keep working towards my goals…
…starting with creating a sitting room that is just for me.
and my magazines.
And, I encourage you to do the same.
