They had me at “fireplace in the breakfast room”.
Which led to my research on the inglenook. And, then began the process of turning my breakfast room into a room that also functions as a keeping room, sitting room, hearth room, sunroom.
But, when I looked at the pictures of my sitting room from the other day…I hated it.
I hated the sloppy, ill-fitting slipcover.
I hated the country looking stool.
I hated the messy paint job on the table.
I hated not having chairs.
And, I was tempted to empty the room and take everything to Goodwill. But, I didn’t.
I did go back to the drawing board, pinning new inspiration. I love, love, love the furniture in this room.
It’s traditional. It’s chic. And, it’s sophisticated. Now, we’re talking.
I love the chairs and beautiful wood table in this room.
I love the beautiful chair and mismatched seating in the room on the left.
And, I really like the smaller cocktail table and clean look of this seating arrangement.
After considering what I like and don’t like about the inspiration photos, I have a better sense of direction and a new sitting room design plan.
From left to right, top to bottom:
- Wall color
- Tufted gray settee
- Accent pillow fabric
- Curtain Fabric
- Traditional chairs with arms
- Wood Pedestal Table
- Sisal Rug
I’ve already started putting the room together using what I have, and I don’t hate it anymore.
See you in class,
