I don’t know why, but I thought that this was going to be the Summer for projects.
Instead, I’ve been taking it easy: lounging, movie watching, reading, visiting friends and family and spending time with my daughter who now has her driver’s license by the way.
I have done a little furniture rearranging and picture hanging and shelf styling, but that’s about it. Frankly, I’d much rather hang out with my daughter.
I have not been able to spend as much time with Mr. Hines though, because he is in the home stretch to finish his LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) internship. We’re keeping our fingers crossed that he is finished by August 21st.
Most days (and nights), it’s just me and my daughter, and I was prepared for today to be the same. But, Mr. Hines is taking the day off, so I asked him to help me make these potting bench plans a reality.
Y’all, my heart went pitter-patter when he said yes.
One, because I really need the help to get this project finished (it’s on a deadline), and I was feeling overwhelmed at the idea of doing it without an extra set of hands.
And, two, because nothing makes me feel closer to my husband than when we work side by side. There is something so unifying about being on the same page…dreaming together, planning together and working together.
To me, it’s the perfect date. And, this date will be extra special because we’re using parts of Mr. Hines’ childhood toy box to make the potting bench.
So, it’s not the summer of projects, but it is a summer of relaxing and spending time together…just as it should be.
Have a beautiful Sunday, and I’ll see you in class.
