While Mr. Hines and I may not agree that working on projects together is the best kind of date, we do both enjoy reading.
So, after doing some planning and rearranging, I managed to squeeze one more chair into my bedroom.
And, that made it official. I now have a cozy seating area for two tucked into the corner, ready for a romantic rendezvous…
me lounging on the chaise and him seated in the chair, reading side by side; occasionally looking up from our books to share an interesting fact or read aloud a funny quote…just like we do at the beach.
When I shared my idea of a reading date with Mr. Hines, he just looked at me with an expression that I couldn’t read, and said, “okay.”
Maybe he just needs to warm up to the idea. Or, maybe a reading date sounds better when it’s under an umbrella on the beach.
That is my motivation; trying to find an inexpensive, easy way for us to spend time together while Mr. Hines works to finish up his LCP degree.
He can still read books from the Self-Help section that count towards his internship hours,
and I can scratch a selection from Women’s Fiction (I didn’t even know there was such a category until I started searching through the many genres on Thriftbooks.com) off of my Summer reading list.
It’s being together that counts.
And, I know that Mr. Hines will be happy to join me for a reading date, but it may just have to wait ’til Summer fades to Fall; when we trade in our beach chairs and umbrellas for a seating area for two.
