I wanted a cozy seating area situated around the mantel, and he wanted a prime view for watching television.
And after eight years of trying to create a furniture arrangement that accommodates our his and hers design styles, I think I finally got it right.
I know…I should have shown “His” first, but I think “Hers” is prettier. 😉
When we had cable, there really wasn’t much of a choice…the couch faced the t.v. which had to be on the main wall of the living room.
Once we got rid of cable, those limitations were lifted.
The next morning as Mr. Hines wandered out of bed and into the living room, he stopped in his tracks and said, “Sheesh.”
“This won’t work. How are we going to watch t.v.?”
“We will lay on the couch to face the t.v. …just like at our friend’s house,” I answered.
He was not convinced.
I watched with bated breath for the next few weeks as he reclined on the couch watching NYPD Blue; legs crossed, hands clasped behind his head. I couldn’t help but noticed how comfortable he looked.
It wasn’t long before we settled into a routine. He took the leather sofa and I claimed the love seat. Then one night as we each lay on a sofa, taking turns watching “our shows,” I looked over and commented, “This furniture arrangement is working out pretty well, isn’t it?”
I felt like I had achieved a win, win…a furniture arrangement that worked for both of us;
Comfortable t.v. viewing for him, and an intimate seating arrangement for me.
Now, we just need to mount the t.v. to the wall. And, maybe install a t.v. cover.
