“I love supporting people’s dreams,” I shared with Nicole as I told her I wanted to visit her friend’s new restaurant.
I think that supporting-people’s-dreams seed was sown twenty-three years ago on my drive to work each morning. I would look over at the drivers sitting next to me at the red light and notice what seemed like a sense of dread and lack of enthusiasm. And I remember not being able to relate because I was doing what I believed I should be doing; teaching. I also remember wanting more for all of those strangers on their morning commute.
Wanting more for others, wanting them to believe in themselves and their dreams, that desire is still alive today and is the driving force behind Mrs. Hines’ Class.
Six years ago, I pressed publish on the very first post at Mrs. Hines’ Class called Living the Dream.
What I didn’t realize then is how much I would learn and grow through this blog. How the blogging community would push me to believe in myself and chase my own dreams. I didn’t know that in the process of sharing my home with you I would be the one to grow in my understanding of what home really is.
I’ve learned to appreciate the ordinary.
I’m more confident in decorating.
I’ve adjusted my expectations as a homemaker.
I changed the way I organize our home.
I’ve put in some hard work on my marriage and started the journey to regain my health.
It has been a fantastic six years. Hopefully, I don’t sound like I’m bragging. What I’m trying to say is that I had a lot to learn and most of these lessons came through living life, falling down and getting back up, mixed in with a little trial and error.
I really don’t think I would have come this far if it weren’t for the support of this community. As my way of saying thank you, I’m running an anniversary sale on my book (a big dream realized through this blog). I pored everything I’ve learned as a homemaker, all my tips, secrets, successes, failures and the stories that go with them, into Creating Success At Home.
This book is my way of supporting your dreams.
Thank you for supporting my dreams!
See you in class,
