After browsing through my favorite home decor blogs or poring over Pinterest perfect rooms online, I typically respond in one of two ways: either motivated by the inspiration and hopping into action no matter the hour, or with a sense of being trapped by my limited budget and giving up from lack of affordable options.
Lately, as I’ve tried to find the perfect pieces to fill in the blank spaces in my home, it’s been the latter because, frankly, I’d rather do without than sacrifice quality. And I feel like I’ve taken repurposing, rearranging and refinishing as far as I can.
The whole predicament reminds me of Cinderella, an invitation to the ball in hand, but held captive by her evil step-mother. And nothing suitable to wear even if she does finish her chores in time. The dress she and her mice friends manage to make torn to pieces. Impossible circumstances.
Just as I was about to throw up my hands in defeat, CORT came calling. I’d heard of CORT Clearance Center, but didn’t realize that they offer such high quality furniture at affordable prices.
Before visiting my local store, I was skeptical that their definition of quality would align with mine, but I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived, feeling like I was standing in a luxury furniture showroom, instead of a typical discount furniture store.
From Hollywood glam to the popular vintage vibe to modern to traditional, the furniture was right on point with today’s trends.
And when I learned brands like Southern Furniture and Broyhill make furniture for CORT Clearance Center based on CORT’s standards of quality including real wood, solid construction and durable fabrics, my confidence in their product grew.
And so did my wish list.
Then, my thoughts drifted off to the not-so-distant future, as I imagined taking advantage of the further discounted “home to go” packages to furnish my daughter’s first apartment.
Whether I’m scratching an item off of my wish list or helping my daughter settle into her first home, I’m comforted knowing every piece of furniture is CORT Certified, meeting strict standards of quality that is guaranteed for ninety days after purchase.
I feel like I’ve met my fairy godmother; a furniture store where I can dress my home with quality furniture and stylish accessories at prices I can afford.
And just in case you’re wishing for your fairy godmother to make your home decor dreams come true, she’s waiting for you at your local clearance center.
See you in class,

LOL…I learned so much talking to the manager at my local CORT; all the furniture starts out as rental furniture. And they make sure it is high quality, durable, long lasting furniture. They try to cycle it through a few times as rental furniture before putting it on clearance. But even when it’s put on the floor for retail, they have strict rules about the quality of furniture. They clean it and make minor repairs if necessary as well. With the thrift, vintage, upcycle trends in home décor, I think CORT is a fabulous option.
