If you give a girl a chalkboard, she’s going to want a chalk ledge to go with it. But, I didn’t have one. At least I didn’t think I did until I discovered a not-so-obvious solution in my kitchen.
I considered using a strip of wood as a ledge, but I didn’t have the right size wood. I thought about stealing a Scrabble tile holder from my Scrabble game, but I’m still holding out hope that we’ll break out the Scrabble board one day. Then I stumbled across the vintage grater that had belonged to my grandmother, and started playing around with different ways to hang it.
First horizontally, then vertically. Then horizontally again.
Nothing was working…until I turned the vintage grater over and noticed that the curves formed a perfect ledge.
Excitement grew as I realized that this vintage grater just might work. I couldn’t hang my new chalk ledge fast enough!
Imagine my delight when the chalk fit perfectly inside this make-shift ledge.
